Mr.
Mason has represented several public agencies in the
County of Merced on a variety of issues including
personal injury, civil rights and water law. He has
also represented a broad spectrum of individuals in
actions involving personal injuries. He is a strong
advocate for Alternative Dispute Resolution and has
frequently served as a mediator or arbitrator in litigation
matters. As a litigation practitioner for over thirty-five
years, he brings a wealth of experience to civil litigation.
Michael also has substantial experience in litigating
claims for disability retirements with public agency
clients.
Experience
Michael has been a litigation attorney since 1970.
His last 23 years have been with this firm. He served
for five years as a prosecuting attorney with the
United States Army and was designated by that Department
as a Senior Trial Attorney having served with 101st
Airborne Division. He has served as a Board member
and as President of the Merced/Mariposa chapter of
the American Red Cross; as a Board member and as President
of the Castle Air Force Base, Base Community Council;
and in 1983 he was elected to the first of two terms
as a City of Merced councilman. He also represents
a number of corporations and business interests. He
is a member of the Merced Downtown Rotary Club.
Education
Mike received his Bachelor’s Degree from Whittier
College in 1966 and his Juris Doctorate from the University
of Oklahoma School of Law in 1969. He served in the
United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps
from 1970 to 1975.
Personal
Mike and his wife Marian enjoy traveling and spending
time with their grown children and their families.
Mike has been an avid runner since his youth and has
completed 11 marathons. He now walks faithfully 4
to 5 miles at least 4 days per week and continues
to play golf regularly.
